Applications of Tungsten Carbide
Tungsten carbide has a series of excellent properties and a wide range of applications, and
their application areas continue to expand over time. The main applications are as follows:
Cutting tools: Hard alloy can be used as various cutting tools. The amount of cemented carbide
used for cutting tools in our country accounts for about one-third of the total production of tungsten
carbide, of which about 78% is used for welding tools and about 22% is used for rotating tools.
However, the tungsten carbide used for CNC cutting tools only accounts for about 20% of the
hard alloy used for rotary cutting tools. In addition, there are cutting tools such as integral
carbide drill bits, integral carbide small circular saw blades, and micro tungsten carbide drill bits.

Geological mining tools: Geological mining tools are also a major use of hard alloys.Tungsten
carbide used in geology and mining in our country account for about 25% of the total production
of hard alloys, mainly used for impact drilling bits, geological exploration bits, mining and oilfield
down hole bits, cone bits, coal mining machine picks, and impact bits used in the building materials
industry.

Mold: Hard alloy used for various molds accounts for about 8% of the total production of hard alloy,
including drawing dies, cold heading dies, cold extrusion dies, hot extrusion dies, forming dies, and
drawing core rods, such as long core rods, spherical core rods, floating core rods, etc. In recent
decades, the consumption of various tungsten carbiderollers used for rolling wire has rapidly increased,
and cemented carbide used for rollers in China have accounted for 3% of the total production of hard
alloys.

Parts: There are many products that use tungsten carbide as structural components, such as
rotary sealing rings, compressor pistons, lathe chucks, grinding machine spindles, bearing journals, etc.
Wear resistant parts: Wear resistant parts made of hard alloy include nozzles, guide rails, plungers,
ball bearings, tire anti slip strips, snow shovels, etc.

High pressure and high temperature resistant cavity: The main purpose is to produce anvils
and cylinders for artificial diamonds. Cemented carbide used for anvils and cylinders account
for 9% of China's total hard alloy production.
Other Applications: The use of tungsten carbide is becoming increasingly widespread, and in
recent years, it has been continuously expanded in the civilian field, such as watch chains,
watch cases, zippers for high-end bags, hard alloy trademarks, etc.
